Today we are rich in technologies that help us in almost every aspect of life. But despite this, why have the problems of happiness and satisfaction not yet been solved?
The fact is, up to now the mysteries of the mind have not been fully understood and certainly not with any scientific precision. The fields of mental healing have been prone to “best guesses” while depression and anxiety still have no clear answer—until now.
A simple, easy technique has been developed which allows you to address a range of undesirable emotions, reactions and attitudes toward life. It is by far the easiest and most enjoyable self betterment technique available and most importantly, it works. In fact, it was originally released in 1951 but is still relevant in today’s modern age.
Before you begin on your path of self discovery, it’s important to gauge your current emotional condition. This next section will show you how.
How to Measure Your Potential for Success
Contrary to popular belief, your youthful and energetic attitude toward life never actually goes away. Rather, it is buried by the physical and emotional pain and stresses of your past.
Each negative incident you run into through life will drive your emotional condition lower, and each success will move it up. When you have too much negativity and not enough success in your past, you wind up deeply depressed and unable to function in life.
By using the Self Analysis program, you will begin to remove this negative energy. Your outlook and happiness will grow as you unburden past emotional trauma and losses.
You also gain a more positive attitude toward yourself and your abilities. Thus, you will get back in control of your life and future, instead of being stuck in the shadows of your past.
With the Self Analysis program, there is a simple and effective technique that anyone can use to systematically relieve the negative emotional energy that has built up in your mind and rise up on the chart. The program is composed of self processing.
What is Self Processing?
The technique we are discussing here is not “positive thinking,” brain exercises, meditation or self-hypnosis.
You may have tried some of these techniques before, and even achieved some benefit. But they do not get to the source of the problem—often the gains fade and you find yourself in the same place you started.
It is possible to desensitize the harmful “charge” from incidents in your past. One way this is done is by moving your attention to pleasurable incidents by using the self processing technique below.
Unlike positive affirmations or mantras, your concentration will be in recalling actual incidents in your past. It is remarkably simple to do yet quite powerful.
In addition to discharging the negative emotional effects of the past, your personal abilities can also dramatically increase.
Imagine being able to finally step out of the shadows of the past and into the vibrant light of the present with sharper senses and renewed vigor for life!
Begin the Adventure of Self Discovery
How does one go about the self processing technique?
The full regimen and instructions are contained in the book, Self Analysis by L. Ron Hubbard.START BUILDING YOUR CONFIDENCE »
L. Ron Hubbard began Self Analysis with these lines:
“Self Analysis cannot revive the dead.
“Self Analysis will not empty insane asylums or stop war. …
“But Self Analysis will conduct you on the most interesting adventure in your life. The adventure of you.”
Self Analysis has sold millions of copies in 50 languages across the globe.
It starts with a series of short essays written in simple terms to get you to fully understand what it is, how it works and how to use the techniques in the book.
Then, there are 12 target areas of your life that the processes cover which you will be able to do over and over. There is no limit to how much or how little you can do.
This brand-new workbook edition has been specifically designed to make it as easy as possible to follow the processing instructions so you can concentrate on what matters most, your progress.
The author describes some of the benefits of using Self Analysis in this quote from the introduction of the book:
“Take your memory, a small part of your total assets. Is it perfect? Can you, at will, recall everything you have ever learned or heard, every phone number, every name? If you can’t, you can see that there is room for improvement. …
“If your memory were as accurate as a computer and even faster, you would be more efficient and more comfortable and it would certainly save writing those notes you have to make. Yes, you probably couldn’t have too good a memory on things you’ve studied and things you need.
“But there are a lot of things as important as memory. There’s your reaction time. Most people react slowly in emergencies. Let’s say it takes you half a second to pull your hand off a hot stove. That’s many times too long a period to have your hand on that stove. …
“In the case of an athlete, reaction time is a direct index as to how capable he may be in a sport. So it assists one in many ways to be able to react quickly. Self Analysis speeds up reaction time. …
“Do you have trouble going to sleep or getting up? Do you feel a little tired a lot of the time? Well, that can be remedied. …
“Then there’s the matter of how young or old you may look. Self Analysis can make quite a change there.
“And there’s the matter of plain ordinary ability to be happy in life and enjoy things. And there Self Analysis shines brightly.”
— L. Ron Hubbard
Success with Self Analysis
Self Analysis reader R.D. in Los Angeles explains how it helped salvage a relationship that was being undermined by the shadows of her past:
“My main purpose for using Self Analysis was that I felt I was sabotaging a romantic relationship I was in. There were things my significant other would do or say quite innocently which I would blow out of proportion or make accusatory remarks toward him, thinking he was trying to hurt me in some way. Of course, this wasn’t true. Clearly, something from my past was interfering with the present.
“It was creating tension between us and I could sense that he was at the end of his rope, as the saying goes. He was patient but told me he couldn’t take too much more of having to defend himself against my false accusations. Self Analysis helped me to identify my ‘triggers,’ and realize that mental blocks could be removed.
“What I found most interesting were the seemingly simplistic questions, hundreds of them throughout the book, which, when answered honestly, brought greater clarification and self-awareness to my consciousness. Simple questions, such as ‘Can you remember a time when you acquired something you wanted,’ or ‘...abandoned something you knew you were supposed to have.’ I could actually feel my stress level decreasing and my focus increasing.
“I felt liberated. How? I’m not 100 percent sure, but this book helped to save my relationship with my significant other. We are at peace now, thanks to my owning up to my sabotaging ways, something that was initially unconsciously acted out. I can now stop myself when it occasionally comes back or is triggered by something. But these occasions are few and far between.”

How Does Self Analysis Work?
Self Analysis is a program and workbook containing everything you need in order to succeed with self processing. Everything from the basic theory, articles from the author, step-by-step instructions and the processing lists are all at your fingertips.
You will begin with a self-examination that will help you pinpoint your location on the Chart of Human Evaluation.
This will allow you to determine exactly what your current success potential is, as well as your average day-to-day emotional condition.
Once you have a “before” snapshot of where you are on the chart you can start the processing. You can do as much or as little as you like. The key is to do it regularly. The author recommends about a half hour per day. Of course, if you really want to accelerate speed in results you can do more.
Here begins the list of questions by which you can explore your past and improve your reactions toward life.
The full regimen contains 21 self processing lists; each covering an aspect of your life which could contain debilitating mental charge. You can find examples in the next section.
In all, these lists contain 1,875 questions that will help you locate incidents in your past being targeted by the technique.
There are even lists that will help you get back on track in case you run into trouble using the technique.
What Sets Self Analysis Apart From Other Techniques?
The procedure for Self Analysis is very simple, but also very thorough. There are 21 different lists in the workbook, each containing a unique set of questions designed to explore an aspect of your memory, perceptions, emotions or attitudes.
Here are some examples of the different lists, what they do and the benefits you can expect from each:
- #11: INVALIDATION How many people have you known who have sought consistently, under the mask of seeking to aid you, to tear you apart as a person and reduce your future, your hopes, your goals and the very energy of your life? This exercise is designed to help you overcome the damage these kinds of individuals have caused to your confidence, success and well-being.*
- #3-3: RELATIVE SIZE The feeling of being small in the vicinity of large objects sometimes causes feelings of inadequacy. It is even said that people who are smaller than average feel less secure. By using this exercise, you can resolve any irrational emotions or memories associated with size.*
- #3-5 TOUCH Not only can the sense of touch be dulled in some people, but it can be too sensitive in others—causing anxiety or nervous tension. The rehabilitation of the sense of touch with this exercise goes a long way toward rehabilitating your confidence and makes it possible for you to obtain pleasure, where before there might only have been distaste.*
- #3-6 PERSONAL EMOTION Many people are not emotional, they are mis-emotional. They do not react to the situations in their life with the emotion which would be the most rational to display. Lack of appreciation for art or music comes about when the individual cannot be freely emotional. Inhibited or excessive mis-emotionalism is one of the most destructive things that can happen to you, since you cannot experience happiness or enjoy life. This exercise can open up and free your emotions.*
- #4: THE PHYSICAL UNIVERSE Only after you discover your inadequacies in handling the world around you, do you begin to decline physically, become less competent mentally and fail in life. Your health depends almost entirely on your confidence in your ability to handle the physical universe and to change and adjust your environment to you. This exercise is designed to help you overcome your past traumatic experiences and “social training” which have diminished your vitality toward life.*
- #6: FORGETTING There is a whole philosophy in existence that the best thing to do with unpleasant thoughts and memories is to forget them. The word forget comes from the concept of leaving something alone. An individual will forget as many thoughts as he has had to leave alone or lose objects in life. This exercise is designed to overcome the times when you had to leave things alone, when you had to lose things and when the loss has been enforced.*
- #8: IMAGINATION If your imagination is dulled, your ability to think is severely handicapped. Only with imagination can a person decide on future goals and reach them successfully. This exercise can increase your imaginative ability.*
These are just a few of the subjects taken up in Self Analysis. The full program contains 21 areas of life that can be holding you back from your full potential.
By using the workbook daily, you can start building your confidence and increasing your potential for career success, long-term relationships and financial prosperity.*START BUILDING YOUR CONFIDENCE »
The Death of Consciousness
Do you remember a time in your life when the world was fresh and life was bright? If it doesn’t seem that way to you now, read this article by L. Ron Hubbard and find out the surprising answer to where your enthusiasm and vigor for life has gone.
“You may have said to yourself, ‘With all my experience now, what wouldn’t I give for some of the enthusiasm I had once.’ Or perhaps you have excused it all by saying you have ‘lost your illusions.’ But you aren’t sure that they were illusions. Are brightness in life, quick enthusiasm, a desire and will to live, a belief in destiny—are these things illusions? Or are they symptoms of the very stuff of which vital life is made? And isn’t their decline a symptom of death?
“Knowledge does not destroy a will to live. Pain and loss of self-determinism destroy that will. Life can be painful. The gaining of experience is often painful. The retaining of that experience is essential. But isn’t it still experience if it doesn’t yet have the pain?
“Suppose you could wipe out of your life all the pain, physical and otherwise, which you have accumulated. Would it be so terrible to have to part with a broken heart or a psychosomatic illness, with fears and anxieties and dreads?
“Suppose a man had a chance again, with all he knows, to look life and the universe in the eye again and say it could be whipped.
“Do you recall a day when you were younger and you woke to find bright dew sparkling on the grass, the leaves, to find the golden Sun bright upon a happy world? Do you recall how beautiful and fine it once was? The first sweet kiss? The warmth of true friendship? The intimacy of a moonlight ride?
“What made it become otherwise than a brilliant world?
“The consciousness of the world around one is not an absolute thing. One can be more conscious of color and brightness and joy at one time of life than another. One can more easily feel the brilliant reality of things in youth than he can in age. And isn’t this something like a decline of consciousness, of awareness?
“What is it that makes one less aware of the brilliance of the world around him? Has the world changed? No, for each new generation sees the glamour and the glory, the vitality of life—the same life that age may see as dull at best. The individual changes. And what makes him change? …
“As one’s consciousness of the brilliance of life declines, so has declined his own consciousness. Awareness decreases exactly as consciousness decreases. The ability to perceive the world around one and the ability to draw accurate conclusions about it are, to all intents, the same thing.”

About the Author
“To know life you’ve got to be part of life. You must get down there and look, you must get into the nooks and crannies of existence, and you must rub elbows with all kinds and types of men before you can finally establish what man is.”L. Ron Hubbard
L. Ron Hubbard was an adventurer, explorer, master mariner, pilot, writer, filmmaker, photographer, musician, poet, botanist and philosopher.
At 13 years of age, he became America’s youngest Eagle Scout. By the age of 19 Ron had traveled over a quarter million miles exploring the South Pacific and traversing much of China and India. He was one of few Western adventurers to enter the forbidden Tibetan lamaseries in the Western Hills of China. He broke bread with Mongolian bandits, hunted with Pygmies in the Philippines, encountered Cantonese pirates in the China Sea, in all he studied 21 primitive races and cultures.
L. Ron Hubbard had seen life from every angle. He had seen man at his best and at his worst and put himself in their shoes, quite literally.
His unique philosophy does not stem from the quiet contemplations of a man who spent all his life in a classroom, but from the full life of one who has been there and done it. The world itself his classroom and Life was his teacher. As L. Ron Hubbard once wrote:
“I have lived no cloistered life and hold in contempt the wise man who has not lived and the scholar who will not share.
“I have seen life from the top down and the bottom up. I know how it looks both ways. And I know there is wisdom and that there is hope.”L. Ron Hubbard
L. Ron Hubbard has received over 4,000 awards, proclamations, recognitions, acknowledging a lifetime of creative and humanitarian service—especially for his work in the fields of mental healing technology, drug rehabilitation, education, criminal reform, moral resurgence and the arts.
